Today, China is home to 54% of all cameras in use globally and concentrates 9 of the 10 most-watched cities in the world. The capital Beijing is one of the cities that accumulates the greatest number of such equipment, around 1.15 million.
The country has not only become the main reference in surveillance and monitoring in its territory but has also exported its technologies to other regions. Notoriously, most countries that employ Chinese surveillance solutions use them in conjunction with American technology — even in the United States itself. It is estimated that 230 cities around the world have this technology.
Hikvision, which alone accounts for 36.6% of China’s video surveillance market, claims to have 2,400 business partners, distributed in 155 countries.
